Speaker 1:

Welcome everybody to another episode of the Ride Home Rants podcast. This is, as always, your host, mike Bono. I have a great episode set for us today. We are going to be talking about all things music and music related. I'm a big fan of music, obviously. You know. Being a comedian, I have walkout music that I come out to on stage every time I perform. I mix it up a little bit here and there, but I got a great panel of guests for us today. We're going to talk about all of it. But, guys, I'm going to let them introduce themselves. But when you introduce yourselves, I need your name, how tall you are and what temperature is your thermostat set to in the wintertime when you go to bed. And, marsco, we're going to start with you.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I'm Chris Marisco, coach Jackson Milton, the sheriff football coach in the Mahoning Valley. I'm 5'8". According to my BMI, I'm extremely obese and because of that my temperature is around 68 in the winter. I like to sleep cool at night.

Speaker 1:

I'm with that. The 68 degrees. I can't be cool enough, but I get the obese thing I'm going to call.

Speaker 3:

BS on for you there, Marcio.

Speaker 1:

It's a topic for a different day. And next on the list here, everybody's favorite roundtable guest, Mr.

Speaker 3:

Mr, mr ASQ, from Cincinnati, ohio, aka the Vampire Coast. My temperature is set no higher than 69 degrees and it can go down, baby, to 62, 63.

Speaker 1:

How tall are you?

Speaker 3:

5'8", and it can go down, baby, to 62, 63. How tall are you? 5'8" 5'8".

Speaker 1:

See, Marshall, you were worried before we started this. 5'9" and Nicole, we're going to go to you next.

Speaker 4:

I'm Nicole Faith, originally from Hermitage, Pennsylvania, moved to Columbus, Ohio, now in Sarasota, Florida. I am a giant compared to these guys, I guess, because I'm 5'6", my thermostat temperature is currently set to 73, and I'm in Florida, so I'm guessing crazy right.

Speaker 1:

That's it for Florida. That's hot, that's way too hot.

Speaker 4:

It's actually chilly right now, but it's way better than where you guys are.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, absolutely, where we're at here in central Ohio right now it's 46 degrees outside, so you know it's warmer than what we have been, but still cold, and, last but not least, right now, wendy.

Speaker 6:

Hi, I'm Wendy Kunash. I'm from Cleveland, Ohio. I probably should say downtown Willoughby, because that's usually where I indicate I'm from. I'm 5'8", just like the others, with exceptions to Nicole. The thermostat is set on 70 at night. I will add this little bit because I think this is important to know. There are two fans on, there's a heated blanket and then two other comforters on top of that for me to go to sleep at 70 degrees I got I got you not mad at that.

Speaker 1:

Uh, everybody knows me here, mike bono. Um, I'm going to make everyone feel really, really small right now. I am six foot five. Um, I don't think.

Speaker 1:

Uh, when the wonderful manager of the podcast was coming up with this question, he took into consideration my height and everything here my temperature, my thermostat I have zero control over because my wife is always cold. So in the wintertime, to go to sleep, we typically set it about 72, which is really hot for me. Um, in the because in the summertime I have it set to 62, um, mainly because we can't have odd temperatures or odd numbers in anything. So it's always set to an even number, um, but yeah, 72. When we go to bed now, uh, but yeah, so I don't. I don't typically sleep with a blanket because I don't need it when it's at the 72. So that's just me. I'm always hot. We will have one guest joining us here a little bit later. We'll get to her when she comes on here, but for right now we're going to get rolling with these panel of guests and, mr, we're going to start with you. And what is your favorite genre of music?

Speaker 3:

Man, I have to say probably mostly reggae. I love, love reggae, reggae, salsa. That's my go-to, that's my top.

Speaker 1:

I got to say, mr, I was not expecting that to be 100%. You got the rocker shades on. I really did not expect that out of you say reggae right now, nicole. What about you?

Speaker 4:

I like a mix of a lot of genres. It just depends on what mood I'm in, but typically right now I've been going to um a little bit more of like today's rock, so a little bit of like breaking benjamin five finger um, especially when I'm in the gym.

Speaker 1:

So that's kind of what I'm in right now I'm not mad at that, but I don't know if you can consider five finger and uh breaking benjamin's today's rock, uh, but all their genre, like headbanging, I don't know like what do you?

Speaker 1:

know what? You know what, really. Okay, we'll get into that because it brings up a point for me. I was um at a at a work training a couple weeks ago and they just had pandora playing just while everyone was getting there before we started and I looked up at what they were playing and it was playing dad rock and it was playing breaking benjamin's uh, nickelback like all the stuff I grew up listening to is like oh, I feel so old right now when dad rock that's all right, I listen to dad rock.

Speaker 1:

There you go there you go, marsco. What about you?

Speaker 2:

so I'm kind of like nicole. I really depends what mood I'm in, what I'm doing. Uh, I mean, I I go back as far as some like 50s and 60s, kind of like motown and whatnot, all the way up to, I don't't know, big X, the Plug, a little rap country, frequent the early 2000s, 2010s, kind of growing up. You know, music kind of takes you back to a certain time, so real diversified with that. Right now I'm kind of into more of a Motown area, little temptations and whatnot, but I really bounce around, truthfully okay, not mad at that wendy round us out here yeah, so I'm.

Speaker 6:

I'm similar to nicole and chris, where I just love all different types of genres. Um, I'm really into the upbeat mixes right now, so it does incorporate a little bit of the house and dance music, and the chill vibes playlists are playing for me right now, but I think that's a little bit more so the mood that I've been in and also I got to go back to the reggae thing. I have been on two reggae playlists for two weeks straight. I cannot get enough of it, morning and night. So I am there with you on the reggae band. Yes, absolutely.

Speaker 1:

I'm not bad at it. I think it's a lost genre of music that people don't listen to a lot. I found a band when I was in college college and I don't even know how to describe them because I mean, first of all they're called skindred. I mean the name just sounds weird, but it is uh, I guess you would call it hard rock, but it's a reggae singer, oh, and it's just. It's this weird mix that works. My wife absolutely hates it, but I love it. It's, it's a great band. I listen to them frequently again with me.

Speaker 1:

With the genre of music, it just really depends again on my mood. I listen to pretty much anything. Lately I've been on a country kick, but typically when I am listening to music I am in my truck and my radio is set to 90s on 9 on Sirius XM. So anything 90s I think is great Era.

Speaker 1:

I grew up in music, I grew up listening to, so it really takes you back. But yeah, a lot of uh, rock and roll, and I grew up listening to 80s hair metal, uh, with my dad. So I always go back to that. But lately it's been been country a lot uh for me and oddly enough, when I, when I walk out on stage, I play country music just to throw the crowd for a loop, because nobody plays country when they walk up on stage, and then I come out with with country music. So I really, I really think it sets the tone for my set, and especially when they hear that I'm the angry white comic and then country music starts playing. So it just it's a fun clash for me playing. So it just it's a fun clash for me. Um, but, wendy, let's stay with you on this one.

Speaker 6:

And who is your favorite artist or band of all time?

Speaker 1:

oh, my favorite ah, oh, we're putting you on the spot here. We ask the tough questions yeah, you really are.

Speaker 6:

I feel like we should have a favorite for every genre. I'm just saying, saying, but I know that that can't happen right now. So if I have to pick my absolute number one, I am really into Odessa. O-d-e-z-a, that's going to be my number one. Yeah, odessa, that's who I'm listening to quite a bit.

Speaker 1:

Okay, marsco, what about you?

Speaker 2:

so I'll I kind of classify this as okay. If I had to pick one artist for a road trip and just listen to all their work. Who am I putting on? And if I'm thinking of in that terms, I'm going to say the eagles I just I kind of like the. The pace of the music it's a little slower, a little more laid back. Um, they have a wide variety, a lot of hits, uh, a lot of really good songs that are a little less known, a lot of good live performances At the LA Forum. That's got its own little section of their hits. So I'd say the Eagles.

Speaker 1:

Okay, not a bad choice. Not a bad choice at all, nicole. What about you?

Speaker 4:

Again, it's so hard Because there's so many talented artists and again it just depends on what mood you're in that strikes a chord. But I'm going to go with somebody that is in the country world for you Bono. And so I'll go with Brantley Gilbert, because he writes a lot of his music and he has like fast beat but slow and so like a lot of the songs talk about his sobriety, especially as like first and second album. So a lot of like deep songs with some great lyrics. So I'll go with him.

Speaker 1:

OK, not a bad choice. I would love to with him. Okay, not a bad choice, brett, I would love to see him in concert. It's one of the he's on my bucket list of people I want to see in concerts. That's great choice. But, mr, what about you All?

Speaker 3:

right when it comes to you know, like a group, I gotta go with the hometown man Bone Thugs-N man, bone thugs and harmony, baby bone thugs and harmony all day long. And then, uh, you know, for that one, that one man is, you know, tupac, you know that as my, you know saying all time, but right behind them and this is no lie, this is, I mean, I have plenty of these discs and music. It's Beethoven, mozart, frederic Chopin, chopin, antonio, any of them old classical masterpieces. I listen to all that stuff, brian. I will have listen. I will have a playlist with Tupac, bone Thug, harmony, reggae, and then have 510, mozart and Beethoven playing Corliss, maria Vieira. I mean all that stuff going right away, bro, right behind me. I'm telling you, man, no lie.

Speaker 1:

Not surprised in the slightest on that one, mr oh man, for me I know you are that's what makes it even better for me. For me it's like everyone's been saying it's tough. For me. It's like Wendy said For each genre there's a different person for me, but who I listen to the most and can just put on their album, their artist on Spotify or anything like that, for me it's Nickelback. I can listen to all of their stuff and I know there's going to be a ton of people on this that just can't stand Nickelback. You're wrong First and foremost, they are amazing.

Speaker 1:

But Country Route Realm, bradley Gilbert's up there, cole Swindell has been another one for me that I've been listening to a lot, but for you, mister, I'm going to keep it on that because my playlist is all over the place. It'll go from Nickelback to Skindred, like I tell you, to Five Figure Death Punch. Frank Sinatra's in there, dean Martin as a Paisan, it's against the rules for me not to have those on my playlist, but it's just something I can listen to all the time.

Speaker 3:

You ain't got no Slayer going, no Slayer ACDC, you know I have them in there.

Speaker 1:

Come on now. I figured we weren't going to talk about the obvious. I gotcha One band that I think that doesn't get a lot of credit, and I grew up with my older sister. She's a huge fan of them and I just grew up listening to them. With them was the Beastie Boys.

Speaker 3:

Oh yes, you used to listen to them all the time, dude.

Speaker 1:

Me and my sister listen to them constantly. Every time we get to hang out, we have Beastie Boys on and it's just. It reminds us of growing up and it's just awesome to have. But, mister, for you, what genre of music can't you stand?

Speaker 3:

Oh man, I tell you what I am so, so wide open when it comes to music, man. I mean, I tell you what I am so, so wide open when it comes to music, man, it's hard, I mean it's. I can listen to almost anything, and especially, you know what I'm saying On on road trips Um, that's a hard one. I mean, that really is, I'm not lying, that's really is, cause I can listen, I will, you know. You know, on long road trip, my man, I can listen, I'm on. You know, on long road trips, my man, I'll turn the station on me, I'll just listen to Bluegrass music or some country music, man, you know Even the you know what I'm saying the fiddle, I mean all that type of stuff, dude. So it's, it's probably. It's wide open.

Speaker 3:

Probably, I would say probably the one, if there is one, is probably that old, hard, hard, hard, hard. You know what I'm saying? Um, suicide, uh, rock and roll, you know what I'm saying? That hard heavy metal, you know that hard, dirty heavy metal. Man, you know, I get down, I get down with slayer. I'll listen to some Rain of Blood. You know what I'm saying. I'll listen to all that stuff, dude. You know ACDC, oh man, hey man, hey, want it Dead or Alive. Oh, dude, that's on the playlist. All the time, bro, that's playing, you can bet your dog that you're going to hear that, you know. Oh, and Slayer. Oh yeah, you're going to hear Slayer. You're going to hear Slayer. Right, but you're going to hear Slayer. And then you hear some Little John, you know.

Speaker 1:

We need to hang out more Mr. Just so we can jam out.

Speaker 3:

But yeah, later to a suicide yeah.

Speaker 1:

Like you for this one. I was just going to give everyone else a chance to mull this over, because we're all pretty wide open, it seems like. But that death metal that you can't understand, they're literally just screaming into the microphone. I can listen to some pretty heavy rock and some metal but, like, if I can't understand you and what you're saying, I'm not going to listen to the whole song. I mean, if you're doing it sparingly throughout the song, ok, but if it's the whole thing, no, not, I'm turning it off instantly.

Speaker 3:

You know, they talk about sacrificing chickens and cow heart, man, and you know, and trying to raise the third devil, or something For sure, nicole.

Speaker 1:

What about you though, man, and trying to raise the third devil, or something. Man, sure Nicole. What about you, though? What can't you stand?

Speaker 4:

I'll save you time on it. I'll agree with you guys, cause it was already in my head Heavy metal scream. Oh, can't do it yeah.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, marsco, what about you?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, same as the calm. We'll sit a lot of time on this one. Now. This seems like that I was anticipating this question, but it's also the easiest for me. I'm so wide open that that's honestly like the screamo you can't understand. That's like the one I don't do and just like all you guys, like I I love some heavy, uh, rock and roll. I just when I, when I can't tell what you're yelling, I'm good, I'm turned off, yeah understandably wendy round us out.

Speaker 1:

I think I know where we're going with this one, though oh my gosh, I was gonna say the same thing.

Speaker 6:

I was that scream on stuff that's not even human. I don't know what's going on. It's like exorcist is happening, you know. But I gotta say, a close second to that is polka, I can't, I can't, I'm sorry, I just oh my bobby she's hurting I'm sorry I'm sorry, I don't understand it and it's just.

Speaker 6:

maybe it's just me and I should, you know, kill my ignorance and learn about it and embrace it. But I have a hard time with that. I don't know if it's just from all of the fairs my dad used to drag me to when I was a child, or what. No, can't even be around it.

Speaker 1:

I didn't even think of that as an option. Yeah, I don't even listen to it, so I never even thought of that as a genre. So yeah, uh, but uh, wendy, which artists have you seen in concert and do you remember where it was at?

Speaker 6:

oh my gosh, I could tell you about every concert, but the most memorable, I mean I gotta bring it up. I love telling this story. I've seen Kid Rock. I've seen Motley Crue which amazing, amazing to see live. I even saw the Jonas Brothers. It was incredible, amazing artists on the stage, that's. I love seeing the live concerts, the live entertainment, because just physically seeing them is art in itself. I saw Cypress Hill, which was so long ago I'm dating myself, but I also saw Lenny Kravitz on this, and Aerosmith and Kid Rock.

Speaker 6:

This was the most intense blossom weekend ever. The craziest part my seats were so great that after the concert Cypress Hill let me back up. During the concert they were throwing blunts into the audience. I'm not saying I participated, okay, but afterwards they came off the stage as soon as they were done and hung out with my whole row of people that I was with and actually were hitting on my girlfriend and got her phone number. I was like what is going on here? That we're smoking pot with Cypress Hill and you guys are changing numbers Like this is the most craziest thing I've ever experienced in my life. Anyway, they called her and they ended up hanging out a couple of times, but that was the best concert. It was the most memorable, it was the funnest. There was so much talent to be seen. It was incredible, absolutely incredible.

Speaker 1:

Sorry, no, that's an amazing story.

Speaker 2:

Um, yeah, I don't know, I don't know how you top this, marsco, but you're next all right, so I don't I don't know how many of the she mentioned some really good all-timers there, but uh, most memorable, I've probably seen kenny chesney the most. Um, he's the most consistent. I love till game with that crowd. Uh, kind of sing the whole concert, um, so I've seen him the most. The best one I've probably attended was, uh, lil wayne with drake, but it was set up like a rap battle. It was really cool and it kind of I thought was interesting because a lot of people, hey, you're not going to like a rap concert, they sound better on the radio, this, and that I thought it was awesome.

Speaker 2:

Lil Wayne's probably my favorite rapper all time, so getting to see him with Drake was pretty cool. The one that was the biggest heartache for me I had Tom Petty tickets in the cart. It was like his second to last show and I never bought him and that was when God called him. So that's probably my biggest regret. Could have got to see him right before it was his time. And another underrated one for me I was at ohio university my freshman year of college. Uh, numbers fest, kind of like it's a little woodstock, and uh, wiz khalifa was at the top of his game and, uh, we were right up front for that.

Speaker 1:

That that was a pretty cool experience too okay, yeah, the top penny would would crush me. I get that, I'm still crushed. Yeah, don't blame you on that one, nicole. What about you?

Speaker 4:

So I've been to so many concerts in my life. Just like Wendy said, there's nothing like live music. I mean any chance I get I'm booking a concert or I'm going and I'm seeing music live locally memorable when I think back. I saw Taylor Swift when she was an absolute nobody. She opened for Ronnie Millsap and George Strait. It was when she first came out with her Tim McGraw song, so nobody like knew what she would be. So that's pretty memorable to think back on it. Now. Um saw Backstreet Boys when they first came back. I'm a bastard. Now they're performing at the Sphere in Vegas so I'm going to go out there and see them again. But that was I mean. They sang all the hits and spot on sounded just like the records from when I was a girl.

Speaker 4:

But my top top would definitely be Celine Dion. Um, with um, her probably never being able to perform again and if you've not watched her documentary on everything she's going through, definitely check it out. I think it's called, I am, but it just goes through all the trauma of what she's battling and how much she misses singing and why she can't sing and it just shows you know some of the episodes that she goes through with this stiff syndrome that she has. So for me it would be that, I mean, it was like an angel on the stage and you're just in, all of her, the whole performance, from start to finish. So, and especially again looking back on it, I don't think she'll be performing, you know, again.

Speaker 1:

So yeah, no, I think the um the summer olympics when she performed in the opening ceremonies. I think that was her last hurrah, but still got it. You can still sing from what I saw. But yeah, it's to see her not be able to do it, it it's. It's tough to see that, especially somebody you grew up listening to and everything like that. But, mister, I can't wait to hear, hear this best concert you've been to.

Speaker 3:

Man. You know what this is crazy, though, man. So I've I have never, ever, been inside a concert show. I've never seen seen anybody at a concert. Now I have seen I've seen Mystical. I've seen Pastor Troy, trina Shea Mack. Now I saw them at the sports bar that I used to go to. You know, they should have different functions and they would come and, you know, do a performance. You know, I'm saying, you know, like one particular night, uh, which was awesome, which was which was good, because me and the owner, uh, caesar, you know, uh, that was my guy, and so, uh, he would let me know whenever he had somebody coming in, and so I will. You know, I will come in and see them, but I never, um, I never been inside and saw a concert, though, but, uh, but going to those, though, you know, at the little, the little hole in the wall spots, that's what you, that's where you need to go.

Speaker 1:

you need to go into the hole in the wall spots I absolutely agree, as somebody who you know performs comedy in these little hole in the wall spots a lot of the time like.

Speaker 1:

Those are some of the best crowds. I performed in comedy clubs, I performed in theaters and the best crowds that I performed in front of are, uh, the little raking dink hole in the wall bar that you would. I performed at one in latonia. It's part of my favorite venue and my favorite bar that I've been to to perform at. It's called the tipsy cow, like that's the name of the bar, and it is just this little. If you blink, you miss it if you're going to drive past it, and it is the most fun I've had at a show performing or just watching the show. Uh, there, um, and yeah, it's just a lot of fun, those little small venues like that. Uh, for me, um and I'm really gonna date myself on this one too as well um, the best show that I got to see live because I've seen a lot of country artists live. I've seen, uh, toby keith, uh, rip live a bunch of times, uh, jason aldean. Those are great shows.

Speaker 1:

But the best one that I saw was Creed. They were doing their. It was like their. It was their reunion tour. They finally got the band Creed back together and they literally gave away free tickets to this show. They were just giving tickets away to this and I had away to this. I had tickets to that. It was at Star Lake in Pittsburgh. I don't care what it's called now, it's always going to be Star Lake. To me it was PPG Paints, something else, I don't even know, but it's Star Lake, the amphitheater there in Pittsburgh. It was the most fun I've had. They were there with Puddle of Mud, so just a great concert to see. But we did get our other guest on here, lauren. Lauren, I'm not going to get you out of this. Everyone else had to answer these questions. So, since you're just now joining us here, introduce yourself. You have to tell us how tall you are and what temperature you keep your thermostat set to in the wintertime when you go to bed.

Speaker 5:

Well, hello everyone. My name is Lauren Labarsky, I am 5'10 and I absolutely love the warm temperature. So I'm going to say I keep it at 69 to 70 degrees when I go to bed, but sometimes if I'm feeling that I would like to live above the sheets, uh, I would say that, um, I feel like I do drop the temperature a little bit, um, just so I can like come in and out of my bed in the evening. So I mean, it's all. It's all based off the time of the year. I'd say, um, so I'm a situational sleeper.

Speaker 1:

Final answer all right, not not bad. You're pretty on par with what everyone else said. We were all kind of in the 60s to 70s. I don't get a choice. My wife says the thermostat, because she's always cold, so it's at 72 um. But I will say, other than me, you are the tallest one out of everybody else. Um so um. Everyone was worried about that question and I think fitty did this setup question because I'm I don't think he took into fact that I'm six foot five. Um so um, nobody else eclipsed five.

Speaker 5:

Ten was the tallest well, on saturday nights I'm six foot one, because I like there you go, there you go.

Speaker 1:

Uh, we'll get you in on this question that we, um, we just uh, we're talking about and it's uh, which artists have you seen in concert and do you remember where it was at?

Speaker 5:

um, so I've seen plenty of artists. Um, most recent one, I saw john summit. He's a dj. I was in colorado last weekend it was like actually no two weekends ago and I was able to be in the dj booth while he was. Uh, yeah, it was so cool. I was literally within six, like actually three feet away from him, right behind the huge crowd, and, um, my friend katie, that I played volleyball with, um, her and I we got backstage passes and then we, um, john summit is listening to this podcast.

Speaker 5:

Uh, we snuck into your dj booth and we, we got to hang out behind him the whole entire night and just get, let me picture, let me put a picture in your guys's mind real quick. We're in Vail in Colorado ski town and we're both wearing these flamboyant fur jackets, my, my friend's also wearing like this mink fur like headband. Meanwhile we get in the backstage and then there's also like a, like a backstage, backstage, like, where the dj is. Um, and we snuck underneath the railing in these big flamboyant furry jackets. You shouldn't have seen, like, if you could imagine just these six foot girls, practically in heels with these fur jackets, crawling underneath these railings, to like sneak in nonchalantly into this crowd behind trash cans just to get closer to the dj. So that's, that's how everything went down.

Speaker 5:

It was the best concert, honestly, that I've been to. I felt like I was a groupie. It was amazing, um, but it was, honestly, hands down, phenomenal, so would not, uh, have it any other way. And the fact that we were in these furry, flamboyant jackets that nobody else was wearing in a very it was an inside indoor concert as well and, um, everyone looked at us like you must be hot, and we totally were, but the thing is like there was nowhere else to put the jacket, so we had to just accept wearing them.

Speaker 1:

So very, very fun I am tagging him in everything that I do when the show airs, just so you're aware so you can hear that story if you're listening to the john summit you know, like if he is listening to it, you are getting blasted all over social media and every platform just so you can listen to this show.

Speaker 5:

Yes, I just say that I'm a big fan. I would love to be in your booth again. Hopefully I get the invitation the real, actual invitation this time, versus the fake invitation that I invited myself.

Speaker 1:

Please holler at us and like and subscribe absolutely, we're gonna stay with you on this one, lauren, since you've missed a couple of the questions here that we we started here. Uh, but what's your saturday in the summer at 4 pm, being outside, type of music.

Speaker 5:

Oh, saturday 4 pm, outside type of music, let me just take. Let me let this marinate for like three seconds. It's either. If I'm on a boat, I definitely like some like country EDM kind of mix up mash. I love my country during the summer, but I also love my like kind of EDM, like you know, alternative house music, um, but if I'm on a beach, I'm going to tell you country all the way. I've seen so many country concerts also, and I met uncle cracker this past summer.

Speaker 5:

I shared a drink with him, actually on the North shore of Pittsburgh. Um, he came down to my friend's tailgate and I catfished him into having a drink with me and he came to the booth. He was getting a homemade margarita or a mojito or whatever from my friend and I said, hey, the only way you can get a drink here is as long as you share it with somebody. You got to do this like initial drink. So you know, we're like newlyweds, like go around their arms and they drink it together.

Speaker 5:

I did that with uncle cracker this past summer. Um, I have a picture and a video to share for proof. Um, and he had no clue what he was doing, he just did what he was told. So that was cool. But I would say honestly, probably in the country theme. Um, there's just something about summertime and you know, like some kenny, some, some jason aldean, um, some old school uncle cracker, you name it and some florida georgia line for sure. So I would say, definitely the country theme. But if you could throw a little bit of a mix of a hip hop or alternative switch, I would totally do that too.

Speaker 1:

Okay, that took a weird turn, and I'm here for it.

Speaker 3:

That is awesome.

Speaker 5:

I need to catch myself, marty, you never know what you're going to get with me. I'm going to be, totally honest. If you ask me more questions, you're going to have some weird answers.

Speaker 1:

You were on a rant show. You're right on par with this podcast. I'm just still trying to wrap my head around that. You said you catfished him into a drink. I don't think that's the right term for it. Catfished him into a drink. I know what she meant. I do know what she meant, but I don't think that's the right term.

Speaker 5:

Well, he knew what he was getting into. He accepted that he was on the platform to get a drink. Watching call the whole dating catfishing thing theme. He knew what he was getting into. He just didn't know the precautions that he would have to accept a very intimate drink gathering scenario with Laura Levarsky.

Speaker 1:

Alrighty, I'm here for it. Oh wow, we're just going to go to Mr because I have no words and that's rare for me on that one. Mr. 4 pm Saturday. What are you listening to?

Speaker 3:

Say reggae 4 pm, saturday. Man hey, listen to the smooth ocean, the wind is blowing. If I'm in Minnesota, man, I'm ice fishing, but man, I got reggae going all day long, man.

Speaker 1:

I knew it was going to be reggae.

Speaker 3:

I got Bob going, any one of his sons, you know, got the Marlies going all day, man. You know we're throwing in some. You know, lady Saul, we're throwing some old reggae roots as well, man, oh yeah, all right, nicole.

Speaker 1:

What about you?

Speaker 4:

Hi Warren.

Speaker 5:

Oh my gosh, I have no clue. You're on here, hello.

Speaker 4:

I just want to say good thing you're halfway into the show, because I don't think any of us would have gotten any words.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, not mindful to not ask me too many questions.

Speaker 4:

You'll get a yapper over here but I will segue into the uncle cracker thing. Um, I remember seeing I think it was Kid Rock actually over at Put-In-Bay and he was opening for Kid Rock and he was smashing some drinks at the bar before he even went on stage. So I can only imagine the experience you have you had with Uncle Cracker, counting some drinks with him. But what I would say for my go-to saturday 4 pm I am telling alexa to either play jerry rafferty, baker street, uh, caribbean queen by billy ocean or robert palmer, addicted to love.

Speaker 4:

Really good mix off of that that's, that's amazing there you go yeah

Speaker 2:

I'm just like lauren with this one I'm picking up beat. Country yeah, kind of chill out near the pool floor. Georgia line uh, I forgot to even mention them with the concert. When I saw them at, I think I think, stambaugh Auditorium it was $20. I was right up front. Six months later they were on the American Country Music Awards winning everything and you couldn't find a $20 ticket anymore. So kind of have a sweet spot for Florida. Georgia Line. Jason Aldean Again, I mentioned Kenny. I've seen him in concert more than anyone. You know. Jimmy Buffett Just a lot of that leisurely music, underrated one maybe. If it's not country, I'm going with some Red Hot Chili Peppers. It's kind of right in that realm, just kind of sitting there, vibing, relaxing, making it feel like Saturday?

Speaker 1:

Absolutely, Wendy. What about you?

Speaker 6:

Oh, me and Mr are hanging out together playing reggae, because I'm on the same train, I'm playing Bob Marley or I'm blasting some other playlist with reggae on a Saturday afternoon. Yes, yes, yes, yes. And the reason why is because there are well, there's a. There's a couple. There are well, there's a, there's a couple. But there's a couple reggae festivals that we have in our area One in Fairport that's done a couple of times a year in the summertime, and then there's also another one that is done towards Ohio city, and when I say big, I mean thousands and thousands and thousands of people show up for it, and it's an all day affair. It starts so early, They've got the stage set and it's nothing but reggae bands playing the whole entire day. And I got to say you have not seen happier people all in one place at the same time. I'm not kidding. Everybody is happy. It's hard not to be.

Speaker 1:

It really is I dabble with some reggae every now and again. It depends on my mood. If I'm in a super chill, happy mood, I'll listen to reggae. But for me, saturday 4 pm, I know I'm out there grilling because we grill everything in the summertime. I don't even think our stove turns on in the summertime. I'm grilling everything and I'm playing anything that I could just dance like a white guy to while I'm cooking.

Speaker 1:

Like that's my go-to and it, it's just it. It's funny because my my wife didn't realize that I did that. She's normally inside doing something while I'm outside grilling. And she came out and I was just in my own little world by my grill and it was a the hell are you doing? And it was making dinner just in my own little world, dancing like a white guy. That's, that's, that's me, it's, it's anything that, yeah, just keeps it. You know, like everyone said, upbeat, happy. Just it's summertime. How do you, how can you not be, not be happy and just moving around? So we are running a little bit short on time. So I'm going to get a couple, two more questions in here and I cannot wait for the answers to this one. But, wendy, we're going to start with you. Backstreet Boys or NSYNC, who's your pick?

Speaker 6:

Oh, I got to say Backstreet Boys, there you go. Yeah, I'm not even hesitating. Backstreet Boys, there you go. Yeah, I'm not even hesitating. Backstreet Boys all day.

Speaker 1:

Mr oh man.

Speaker 3:

Backstreet Boys man.

Speaker 1:

All right, marsco.

Speaker 2:

Backstreet's back, nicole. Backstreet all the way. All right, nicole.

Speaker 4:

Backstreet all the way.

Speaker 1:

Alright, lauren, are we going to have a clean sweep?

Speaker 4:

Don't screw it up, lauren.

Speaker 2:

It's not going to blow both of us, are you Did?

Speaker 5:

We lose her. I was trying to unmute myself For dramatic effect For the suspense Backstreet. Did we lose her? I was trying to unmute myself For dramatic effect For the suspense Backstreet.

Speaker 3:

Backstreet.

Speaker 1:

Boys. There you go. I'm in the same boat, backstreet Boys. I don't know if anyone can hear it. I heard it in my headphones but I don't know if anybody can hear it. As soon as I asked the question, my wife from the background went BSB for life and so it's. It's a clean sweep great boys.

Speaker 1:

That is so funny, man. This is this, this is this is the bono household. Uh, for everyone new listeners out there. Uh, we wait it. It it could be its own TV show. I'm just saying, if anybody's looking for a new reality TV show, just set up cameras in the Bono house. You will be entertained for seasons upon seasons. Alrighty, here, I've got a couple good questions here to end up with. We're going to go with this one, okay, because I think it's gonna be a lot of good answers. Lauren, we're gonna go with you on this one. And does Taylor Swift belong in the same category as a singer and performer as Whitney Houston and Celine Dion? Oh no, oh no, as Whitney Houston and.

Speaker 5:

Celine Dion oh no, no. No, I'm sorry, I'm not a Swifty. I appreciate everything she does for the economy, Yada, yada, yada, but no, I mean respectfully, I just think there's a better talent out in the world. She's talented, but I just don't prefer it 100% with you on that one.

Speaker 1:

For sure. I'll get to my long-winded answer on that here after everyone else goes, mister.

Speaker 3:

You know, you almost want me to say I plead the fifth and they compel. Are you freaking, kidding me? No comment, it's not even disgusting.

Speaker 5:

It's not even disgusting he doesn't want to be exposed it's not even close.

Speaker 3:

Stay with your boy. You know what I'm saying. Try and keep him up during the off season. Hopefully they be back, maybe, nicole, what about you? And keep them up during the offseason?

Speaker 1:

Hopefully they be back. Maybe, Nicole, what about you?

Speaker 4:

So funny that this is even a question, since they both came up from me in one of your questions.

Speaker 1:

It's the reason I went with this question. Honestly, there was two questions that I had left and I was like I can't get both of them in.

Speaker 4:

No, I said when seeing Celine I mean it was just in an in awe concert it there's no comparison like at all. I mean not again not saying she's not talented. She's talented in her own right, but it's comparing apples to oranges, in my opinion okay, marsco and after those explanations I'll feel qualified to answer the question I

Speaker 2:

mean I'm gonna kind of have to bend the knee with the side of experience. I mean I, I appreciate that of music, I'm not too well versed in it. I mean, no, probably help my followers on X. I mean I am a little bit of a Swifty. Um, you know, my wife really enjoys her music. We've got a lot of her uh records. I don't know if there's a nostalgia. My wife plays her records downstairs, um, but no, we watch, watch Taylor Swift on Disney Plus and all that. So I mean I'd put her up there, maybe not on that level but in that category. But I don't know, everyone else on this panel seemed like a definite no. So maybe I don't know what I don't know. But yeah, you're right. So I'm down with her. Wendy, what about you?

Speaker 1:

no, not a fan, not a fan of hers at all of Nick Taylor's, so I'm down with her. All right, wendy, what?

Speaker 6:

about you? No, no, not a fan, not a fan of hers at all. Never been, doesn't even come close to my opinion.

Speaker 1:

Everyone except for Marisco is absolutely right.

Speaker 3:

No, that's one of the cleanest no's I've ever heard. Clean it now no, just no.

Speaker 1:

You know that's one that's one of the cleanest no that I've ever heard.

Speaker 6:

Clean now no, just no I mean it as strongly as I can, right I will.

Speaker 1:

I will say with my whole chest I cannot stand taylor swift, um with, with the, with a hot, flaming passion. I I cannot stand Taylor Swift. Sorry, marsco, I'm sorry you're the only Swifty that's on the show, which is not what I expected. But no, it's just I. There's no way you could even put her in the same breath as Whitney Houston or Celine Dion. Anyone who does is 100% wrong. I can't stand that. When I turn on any NFL game or ESPN, if she's even in the same city as the game that's playing, they're showing her.

Speaker 1:

I can't stand it, come on now what, marsco, you want to get into this right now. We'll do this.

Speaker 3:

I like football either.

Speaker 2:

But come on, I ain't got nothing to do with her singing, performing I didn't say she couldn't sing, I'm just saying I don't like it.

Speaker 1:

I just can't stand her. It's just I don't like it. I just can't stand her. It's just. I don't know what it is, and I'm going to use one of my favorite lines from Step Brothers it's something about her face. I just can't stand it. I can't stand her face. It's everywhere. I know I might lose a lot of followers on this podcast for this, but you know what?

Speaker 2:

I don't care Um, because Chris, underscore, marsco, all you Swifties, oh man, and my girl, caitlin Clark, up in the booth too. She got bonus points with me.

Speaker 1:

And Caitlin Clark. Okay, I, I can see putting Caitlin Clark up there. Um, that's rare, uh, for her to be at the games, but it's anytime Travis Kelsey farts, they put her on the screen in the game, like that's what I can't stand and it's just. I could go on for a whole episode by myself Just talking about my hatred for Taylor Swift. It's a lot, but anyways, I think I, lauren, I got you right. I started with you right on that one. I got so off track, yeah.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, you did. You definitely got off track and you definitely started with me, okay.

Speaker 1:

I just want to make sure I got everybody in before I did this, but that was the All Things Music Show and that is going to do it for this week's episode of the Ride Home Rants podcast. I want to thank all of my guests for coming on Nicole, wendy, mr Lauren for joining us late, marsco, the unfortunate Swifty that's on the show, and Wendy for joining. As always, if you enjoyed the show, be a friend, tell a friend. If you didn't tell them anyways, because they might like it, just because you didn't. That's going to do it for me and I will see y'all next week.
